Our mechanics
Doug "Bones" Vail-- The minute you walk into Central Wheel, Bones can be spotted performing his magic on any bike imaginable. Simply put, Bones is the finest mechanic East of the Mississippi. While his mechanical prowess originated in the field of motorcycle racing, his touch for fixing bikes with and without motors quickly translated into just bicycling, and before long he was the owner of a successful bike shop in Middlebury, CT. Bones began at Central Wheel in March of 2008, and currently acts as our head mechanic. If your bicycle has been serviced at CW, chances are it's been looked over by Bones. Bones rides his Cannondale Capo fixed-gear bike and his LOOK 586 road bike, either of which he can be seen on whilst leading our Saturday morning 9 o'clock ride. Bones enjoys all kinds of music except hip-hop, loves a good Guinness, and his favorite food is lasagna made by CW's own Will Doemland. When asked to describe the owner, Jeff Gelt, in 3 words, Bones said, "How about 3 letters... A. D. D."
