Featured Products: SRAM Red eTap IN STOCK NOW

CW SRAM Red eTap Groupo

The latest in top of the line electronic shifting is now available from SRAM, and it’s in stock here at Central Wheel! The SRAM eTap system features SRAM’s advanced shift logic (right lever makes it harder, left lever makes it easier, both levers to change the front ring) making shifting easy and intuitive.

eTap Toss

After the shift levers, the most important component to any groupset is the rear derailleur.

SRAM Red eTap RD

The SRAM RED eTap rear derailleur precisely executes shifts the moment you demand it. Being wireless means that it’s easy to set up, clean in appearance and straightforward. Mechanical necessities such as a carbon pulley cage, ceramic pulley bearings, and high polished alloy artfully blend with SRAM’s proprietary electronic advancements to deliver a 239g(including battery) shifting wonder.

What’s a rear derailleur without it’s buddy the front derailleur?

SRAM Red eTap FD

Thanks to SRAM YAW™ technology, there’s no need for trim. The result is a front derailleur that executes shifts confidently and quickly through a proprietary wireless communication protocol. At 187g including battery, the SRAM RED eTap front derailleur maintains SRAM’s best-in-class weight title.

Simple and intuitive shifting system, easy installation, low maintenance, and light weight. What more could you ask for in a drivetrain system? How about a great deal on upgrading your existing SRAM system?

$1660 (Plus Labor) UPGRADE KIT

Greetings From United Bicycle Institute!

Hey everyone! Paul C. here. I’ve been in beautiful Ashland, Oregon for the last two weeks studying for a professional bicycle mechanic’s certification from United Bicycle Institute (UBI).

Paul UBI

From the UBI campus you can see some of the mountains surrounding the town of Ashland. The region is a paradise for mountain bikers, with miles upon miles of gorgeous single-track.
UBI Campus

In the classroom, eight workstations are each stocked with a mechanic’s dream worth of tools. Each workstation is shared by a pair of students, and bench assignments rotate every day, so you always work with someone new.

On weekends, when not studying, I’ve been exploring the area. The Bear Creek Greenway is a 20 mile paved bike path teeming with cyclists, runners, and walkers. The scenic route closely follows the Creek, and wooden bridges cross over the creek in places. Here’s my commuter bike parked on one of these bridges.
Bear Creek Greenway

I thought coming from Connecticut was far, but there’s a guy in my class from Hawaii. Two guys in the frame building class next door, who are staying in the hostel with me, are from London, and Mexico respectively. Wherever folks are from, we’re here for the same reason: our love of bicycles!
